Christians’ True Spirit (CTS) is taking up the blaspheme case of Pastor Adnan Prince, case is under trial.
A blasphemy case FIR registered against Pastor Adnan Prince on 09-10-2013 offense under section 295-A, 295-B and 295-C PPC at the Police Station Township, Lahore. He was alleged for writing derogatory remarks against Prophet Muhammad on a book and also alleged disrespects the religion Islam etc. He was arrested in November 2013 and since lives behind the bar. None of any prosecution witness recorded statements and the alleged accused could not get relief by the courts since 2 years and 7 months.
Presently the case is under trial in the court of Mr. Nadeem Anwar Chaudhary (Additional District & Sessions Judge Lahore). The next court hearing in trial court is June 29, 2016. The case file in the court records give an impression as there are a number of advocates, who submitted their power of attorney on behalf of Adnan Prince, but apparently there is no one to come to the courts for the condut of fair trial in this blasphemy case. In this crucial situation Irfan Masih elder brother of Adnan Prince approached Christians’ True Spirit (CTS) for legal assistance and shared his worries that if he could not arrange a competent and professional team of lawyers to defend Adnan Prince, he must be given death sentence or life imprisonment like Aasia Bibi, Shafqat Emmanuel, Shagufta Kauser, Imran Ghafoor and Sawan Masih.
CTS team has requested Ms. Asma Jahangir (advocate Supreme Court of Pakistan) to file bail petition in the Lahore High Court on statutory ground on June 18, 2016. The bail application was heard on June 20, 2016 by Mr. Justice Sehram Sarwar Chaudhary and served notice to the complainant and adjourn the court hearing till June 30, 2016, but there is still need a lawyer to pursue with the case trial of Adnan Prince in the lower court.
Adnan Prince is an orphan, they are only two brothers, his brother Irfan Prince is taking care of him and following the case and visiting him in jail regularly. CTS is providing small financial support to Irfan Prince for the basic needs of Adnan which we send him in the prison.
