Amir Haroon s/o Inayat Masih is a Pakistani Christian resident of Sukkur, Sindh becomes the victim of faith and persecution while he was forced to convert to Islam along with his family by Muslim fanatics.
Family background:
Background Amir Haroon is married and has 5 family members to support including Raheela w/o Amir Haroon DOB 01-01-1982, Adan s/o Amir Haroon DOB 06-09-2002, Sharon Adam s/o Amir Haroon DOB 05-08-2005, Zaphenath Kevin s/o Amir Haroon DOB 18-01-2010 and Smyrna Alice d/o Amir Haroon DOB 09-04-2011. Since 2016, Haroon had a contract with Hira Public Sachool Sukkar as a vender and he used to run a canteen, it was a very good source of his income and he earned well. School management, teachers and students all were happy because of his verity and hard work.
The incident:
The problem began in 2019 when the school management appointed a new watchman named Ghulam Haider Baloch who was affiliated with an Islamic Organization. Haider became friendly and started regular visiting the canteen for eating and talking about Islam. When Haider came to know that Haroon is Christian then he started Islamic talks as well as invited him to embrace Islam. Haroon told the man that he is a Christian and not willing to embrace Islam, as he is happy in Christian faith. After a month Haroon asked Ghulam Haider to pay the food bill, but instead of paying the bill he became aggressive and warned Haroon for consequences.
Amir Haroon reported to the school principle, who took an action against the watchman. On April 22, 2019 the watchman Ghulam Haider came to school along with two Mullas and they began beating Amir Haroon. The school management tried to control the matter and inquired Ghullam Haider why he was so aggressive. He showed a few pieces of papers and alleged Amir Haroon for committing blasphemy and said that he was using these papers with Quranic verses to serve eatable things to the students in the canteen. Amir Haroon informed the Principle and all his colleagues that he is not guilty therefore the principle took him to the staff office to keep him safe from Mullah’s. Ghulam Haider and others started shouting and calling blasphemers the all that give shelter to Amir Masih and will be punished accordingly. He also said that they do not want to go to the police station but they will go to the local landlord named Jan Mohammad to lodge. When the landlord came to know about a blasphemy he did not investigate the matter but ordered his people to punish Amir Haroon. They locked Haroon in a room and wanted to hang him till death. Later the landlord said, if Amir Haroon recites Kalma (Islamic verse for conversion to Islam) and confess that he is a Muslim, they will set him free.
Landlord asked his people to bring his wife and children at the spot as they wanted to kill Amir Haroon and his children together. His wife and children has been crying for rescue and life. Amir Haroon was worried for the well-being of his children and wife and wanted to secure them, therefore he told them that he would accept Islam. Jan Mohammad said that don’t try to runaway otherwise we will find you out and kill without any excuse if you do not come to Jamiya Ashrafiya along with your wife and children to embrace Islam.
Safety measures for the well-being of the family:
When he returned to home he shared the matter with priest Fr. Sikandar from Catholic Church Sukkur. He became worried and shifted Amir Haroon and his family to Karachi in emergency although it was not the solution, the situation become worse and Mulla’s planned to file a blasphemy case under section 295 – C against Amir Haroon. Fr. Sikandar consulted a lawyer to handle the case of Amir Haroon but he refused to take up this blasphemy case because the landlord Jan Mohammad was an influenced person.
